Microsoft Fabric Consultant / Developer, Greenstep (multiple locations)
We are looking for a hands-on Microsoft Fabric Consultant to join our growing team!
In Finland / Finnish language required / Consultant / Customer work
Greenstep is a Finland based, family-owned growth company founded in 2010, providing high-quality financial, HR, data & AI, technology, and sustainability services to support our clients’ development and long-term success. Today, we are a community of more than 800 experts across the Nordics and Europe – and growing fast!
We are now looking for a skilled Microsoft Fabric Consultant / Developer to join our team in Finland. We work in a hybrid-mode and spend at least 50% of working time in the office with our colleagues. You’ll be working in collaboration with our Data & Technology experts (~100 ppl).
The Role
We're looking for a Microsoft Fabric Developer / Consultant to design, build, and take modern data and analytics solutions into production for our clients. You'll work across the full data lifecycle from OneLake and the lakehouse through to Power BI and the insights business users actually act on, and you'll do it in a client-facing, advisory capacity. This is a hands-on delivery role with a consultant's mindset: you translate business needs into maintainable technical solutions and can explain your choices to a non-technical audience.
Microsoft Fabric projects are growing quickly, and we're strenghtening the team that delivers them. You'll join a group of data engineers, BI developers, and architects working closely with clients across the Nordic mid-market and enterprise. Depending on the engagement, you might be the sole technical lead embedded with a customer or one of several specialists on a larger platform build. We support certification, invest in continuous learning (the toolset moves fast), and expect everyone to grow their advisory skills alongside their technical depth.
In practice, you will:
Design and implement end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Fabric — ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, and reporting.
Build and orchestrate data pipelines using Fabric Data Factory / Data Pipelines and notebooks, moving data reliably from source systems into OneLake.
Develop lakehouse and warehouse layers following a medallion (bronze/silver/gold) or comparable layered architecture, with attention to partitioning, performance, and cost.
Model data for analytics and build performant Power BI semantic models, reusable DAX measures, and reports that serve as a trusted single source of truth.
Implement engineering discipline around your work: version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring so solutions are maintainable and observable in production.
Apply data governance, security, and privacy controls (access, classification, lineage) in line with client policy and GDPR.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients — gather and challenge requirements, run workshops, present solutions clearly to both technical and business stakeholders, and help customers make well-reasoned technology choices.
Contribute to our internal practice: best-practice patterns, reusable accelerators (Terraform for example), DevOps and governance models, and mentoring of colleagues.
Requirements
Several years of hands-on experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics delivery, ideally in a consulting or client-project setting.
Practical, demonstrable experience with Microsoft Fabric and its core workloads: OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory / Data Pipelines, and Synapse Data Engineering.
Architectural understanding of Microsoft Fabric implementation and design.
Strong Power BI skills: semantic (tabular) modelling, advanced DAX, Power Query (M), and report/dashboard design, including workspace and deployment management.
Solid Python/PySpark & SQL experience
Sound understanding of data modelling (dimensional/star schema, medallion, and ideally Data Vault) and modern ELT/ETL approaches.
Familiarity with source-control-based development and CI/CD for data workloads (Azure DevOps or GitHub, Fabric deployment pipelines / Git integration).
An understanding of data governance, security, and privacy as first-class concerns, not afterthoughts.
The ability to work independently, take ownership of a deliverable, and drive it to a measurable, production-ready result.
Fluent Finnish and working proficiency in English are a must. Client-facing work is often in Finnish.
We value how you work with clients as much as what you can build.
In addition to technical skills and filling the language requirement, you need to have a consultative approach. You listen, connect technology to business needs, and are comfortable making clear, defensible recommendations.
As a consultant, you have
Confidence presenting to and facilitating discussions with non-technical stakeholders.
Business understanding: you care about the value a solution delivers, not just its technical elegance.
Curiosity and a genuine appetite for continuous learning as the Fabric platform evolves.
Collaborative instincts — sharing knowledge, sparring with colleagues, and raising the team's overall capability.
Nice to have (bonus, not required)
Broader Azure data ecosystem experience: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, and especially Azure Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow).
dbt and a modern, modular ELT mindset.
Real-Time Intelligence / Eventhouse (KQL), Data Activator, or streaming/event-driven data experience.
Microsoft Purview and hands-on data governance (classification, lineage, sensitivity labels).
Experience integrating Fabric with the Power Platform, Dynamics 365 Business Central, or enterprise source systems such as SAP (BW / Datasphere).
Practical use of Copilot and AI-assisted capabilities in data and analytics development — and interest in the emerging Fabric agentic stack (data agents, Fabric IQ).
PowerShell for environment automation; paginated reports for operational/pixel-perfect reporting.
Certifications
Certifications are a strong plus and we support you in earning them. Most relevant:
DP-700 — Fabric Data Engineer Associate (our primary target; completed, or a clear motivation to complete it with our support).
DP-600 — Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate.
PL-300 — Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
Relevant Azure data certifications (e.g. former DP-203) are also valued.
