Modern Data and/or Azure Engineer- Greenstep Oy, Finland / all cities
We’re looking for a Data & Azure Engineer to build modern data and integration solutions on Azure!
Azure / Fabric / Databricks / Lakehouse (containers + serverless + modern AI baseline). Greenstep | Finland | Hybrid
We’re looking for Modern Data and/or Azure Engineers to build modern data, AI & automation solutions / platforms on Azure - practical, production-minded, and engineering-first. At Greenstep, you can work across customer projects, and if you’re interested, also contribute to SaaS product development. We build scalable solutions for BI, data platforms, integrations, and operational automation using modern Azure services.
Who would you be working with?
You’ll join our Data & Technology Services community (~100 experts), and your closest team includes around 25 colleagues depending on your focus. We’re collaborative, supportive, and we genuinely like sharing knowledge. We also support growth through training/certifications and a strong community-of-practice vibe (if that’s your thing).
Since 2010, we have grown to almost 800 people, more than 3000 customers, and we are looking forward to continuing this growth journey! We provide the full spectrum of financial services, from accounting to interim CFOs for some of the fastest growing companies in Finland as well as all over the Nordics. Everyone works closely together, meaning you will be working with other CFO’s, Accountants, Payroll Specialists, HR specialists, Systems and Integrations Specialists, but most importantly, with great customers.
The Role:
Your main focus is modern data engineering + Azure engineering: building data solutions and the cloud foundations they run on. Projects vary, and we shape the scope based on your strengths and interests so you’re both challenged and supported.
In practice, you might:
Design and implement modern data platforms (Data Lake / Lakehouse / Warehouse) on Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure, and bring them to production-grade quality.
Build and run complex pipelines (batch / near-real-time) and integrate data from various sources (SaaS, databases, APIs) reliably.
Do data modelling and ensure real-world readiness: quality, performance, security, and cost awareness.
Build Azure foundations for data workloads: storage solutions, identity & access, networking principles & architectures, and secure-by-default execution.
Package components as containers (Docker) and run them on Azure based on the best-fit runtime: for lighter needs via App Service custom containers, and for more demanding setups via Kubernetes, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) (scaling, availability, operability).
Use serverless and PaaS patterns when they make sense: Azure Functions for event-driven or scheduled integrations, and Azure App Service for web/API components where managed operations and fast delivery matter.
Ship like an engineer: IaC, CI/CD, monitoring, reliability practices, and explain technical choices clearly even to non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
We expect minimum 2 years of experience in the relevant topics.
Must have:
Fluency in Finnish (mandatory) and English.
Strong Python (and/or PySpark) skills and solid cloud development practices (version control, orchestration/scheduling, error handling, monitoring, cost awareness).
Strong SQL and understanding of modern warehousing/lakehouse concepts and patterns.
Hands-on experience with integrations and data pipelines (ELT) + APIs (REST patterns, auth, pagination, webhooks).
Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Databricks implementations and development. Synapse is a plus.
Azure engineering competences: storage, identity & access, networking principles, secure-by-default execution.
Practical containerization (Docker) skills and an understanding of running containerized workloads in production — including baseline Kubernetes/AKS know-how (core concepts, deployment patterns, operability).
Serverless understanding: Azure Functions + App Service as part of integration and API components.
Comfortable using AI dev accelerators like GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code to speed up delivery (ideation, refactoring, test generation, routine tasks) while keeping quality and security in check.
Good to have:
IaC (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps), testing, observability.
Deeper experience with AKS/Kubernetes in production and/or advanced Azure networking (Private Link / VNET integrations).
Existing certifications (Azure / Databricks / Fabric) or interest in pursuing them - we offer these.
What about AI & agents:
AI and agents aren’t the main focus of this role, but the industry is clearly moving in this direction. That means we expect genuine interest and solid baseline understanding of how agents are built, connected to data, and operated safely in production. And how LLM's can support our daily work and enhance solution deliveries.
You understand what “agentic” looks like in practice (talk-to-data, workflow automation) and where it creates real business value. You know the fundamentals of building/integrating agents (e.g., Copilot Studio, Fabric AI Skills / Data Activator) and grounding them in enterprise data for example within Fabric environments. In addition, you understand how Azure OpenAI fits into solutions (summarization, generation, semantic search/embeddings, RAG) and what production readiness typically requires (boundaries, permissions, monitoring).
